The Quickening has been an overall interesting and engaging read, however, it is also difficult to read book. The idea and concept are very good and thought-provoking. A country governed and entirely ruled and managed by women, is indeed such a brilliant thought. A story that is set in London, and is in the backdrop of war and virus that is happening across the world. The events that happen are in the future that is not so much away from today, and in between all these chaos and disasters come up few strong women who take over the reins of this world, and get started in creating a new society.
The story and the characters do present many questions to think about and ponder on, particularly about the way human nature is very similar among women and also men. The darkness, the deceptions, and the disturbances. We also get to think on the lines of feminism and diversity.
