I opened this book with excitement for what a modern Brave New Work take might look like. It delivered in its uncomfortable extreme feminist depiction of how a totalitarian matriarchy might manifest, and the implications for mankind. There was obviously a very clear agenda running through this work to make us challenge some of the existing historical and current oppressions wrought by the largely patriarchal societies we know. I don't think that it was meant to be an easy read, however the pace of story and perhaps deliberately two dimensional characterisation left space to really think on the points being made. I do wonder whether the closing chapter let the wider gist of the book down, or in fact made it more relatable, that aspects of the old ways of doing things would always appeal however much wider change is executed.
