Straight from the beginning Ella is an engaging character. For a young girl in such a horrid situation she can find the beauty in the sewing room she is so desperate to work in. It is clear that Ella is in for an adventure, with hidden talents that will get her far, and the possibility of a new friendship from an unexpected character, Rose.
You wouldn't think it from the first pages but this WW2 novel is set to be entertaining and a gripping read. You will fly through the pages, loose track of time and feel as though you are in the room watching Ella go through her experience at Auschwitz.
