The extract really evoked the concentration camp setting and the emotions and choices that needed to be made to survive, quickly drawing out my sympathy for the women there and making me keen to find out what happened to them. The cover with the contrast between the haberdashery items and the barbed wire is a great fit for the setting of the story in a dress-making workshop within the camp.
