I didn't find the cover of this book particularly eye-catching. Perhaps because it's quite grey? It looked like historical fiction but I was surprised to see that it was YA.
The blurb sounds fascinating and I was really keen to read the First Impression. I was left a little disappointed though. Even though she's fourteen, I found it hard to identify with Ella. She doesn't seem scared enough for what must have been a terrifying experience. She reads as quite easily distracted and I didn't feel that she fit the time period. This reads as a lot more modern than WWII and, having read quite a lot of historical fiction, I'm not sure I will get on with this book because of that. I give it 3* for the potential.
