The story in some ways is quite tragic as it sees Ella and Rose fight for survival. Survival of the fittest you may say. But the two of them stick to each other and help the other through the good times and the bad, meeting new, mysterious and possibly dangerous people along the way.

In some ways 'The Red Ribbon' sheds some light on the persecution of the Jews. Yes, it was completely wrong to persecute them, but they story of Ella and Rose shows that people became close to people they wouldn't normal want to. The story of friendship, hope and survival through the book.

'The Red Ribbon' is written amazingly well. There is so much description in as little as two sentences! It is very moving in some places and has even made me stop and think 'wow, those people went through so much hardship and were still managing to keep smiling!' It is written perfectly in the sense that it shows respect through the while story, yet still manages to show the tough times.

Each character has their own personality and it warms the words through and through the book. I loved the book and highly recomend it xx
