A beautiful, heart wrenching and warming book! The different characters bring a dynamic reading experience because they all have strong individual personalities. The plot was a joy to read , it flowed easily but it was predictable so no nasty twists. Ella’s perspective was the perfect way to understand the tone and feeling of desperation and need for survival and also the suffering that is evident throughout the read. The focus on how human kindness is the most powerful and appreciated act of heroism is present throughout, causing the read to be really thought provoking. The afterword was what brought tears to my eyes, it tied the whole meaning of the book together and made it a really meaningful read. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience a vast variety of characters and how they all face their own struggles for survival in their different ways!
