This is a wonderful book. So easy to read and the writing style is good. I could see and feel the life Ella and the others were enduring.
The story is about a young girl called Ella who is taken by the Nazi’s to a concentration camp called Birchwood, which is actually Auchwitz, where she witnesses and experiences heartbreak, suffering beyond belief, companionship amongst the horror of her situation and the extreme will to survive.
This book touches on the horrors of the selection process when the trains carrying the people arrived at Auchwitz they have either died by gas or lived a. Horrific existence waiting for their turn to die.
A very powerful book about true events and a true place, the writer admits the characters are fictional however they take the place of the real people who DID suffer those things. This book should be given more publicity. I was sad to finish and have to say goodbye to Ella and Rose. FANTASTIC BOOK
