This was better than I was expecting it to be. Whilst the cover and blurb made me fairly sure I wouldn't. It seems like a light hearted take on a romance story but had surprising concepts and interactions emerging in the opening pages.
Whilst that is obviously a key concept it is written well and hasn't been overly stressed in this opening so I still had the sense the novel wasn't going to get caught up in it and would presumably continue to flesh out these characters relationships.
It was also surprisingly deep in places, with the discussions around if you could see for the first time what would that be like?
