I love the idea of a book about a woman who is blind and who has the opportunity to see for the first time but isn't sure whether to agree to it. This is a great concept to base a book around. The emotional and physical abuse that Kate faces from her partner scares me, as it reminds me of how many people put up with terrible situations sometimes without even realising how bad they are. These first few chapters deal so well with the different stories of these two women. It is well-written, engaging, the characters are believable and likeable and it makes me want to read more and find out what will happen next.
