Being a disabled person, I love how the main character is not patronised or seen as ‘weak’ for her blindness, rather more it seems to spur her on as opposed to stopping her. I feel respect for her, feel empathy, and do not pity her simply because she is blind. Few disabled people want pity, more understanding, so a nice touch.

I am a fan of novels that have LGBT characters but where their sexualities and gender just happen to be part of them, as with life, and when there is more to the story. The novel, though I have only read an extract, seems to succeed in this.

Naturally, my stomach churns from the very first introduction to Tony, and this just raises my hopes for a happy ending for Kate and Nova.
Despite primarily establishing itself as a drama, the book does have some witty and humorous passages which I hope continue throughout
