This book is about Nova who has been blind since birth but undergoes an operation that allows her to see for the first time. During her recovery she meets a lady called Kate. The story follows Nova, Kate and her husband. I enjoyed reading this book. Nova is a really interesting character and the account of how she learns to see and the challenges and joys this brings for her is well written and thought provoking. The book is written in the present tense, which I often find off putting but I thought it worked for this story. In a couple of places the story jumps forwards by several months and I would have liked more depth on Kate's husband and his relationship with both Nova and Kate. However, overall I really enjoyed reading this on my holiday and thought it was great to read a book that was a bit different!
