This book was not what I was expecting, and not as I thought it would be from the blurb and my first impressions.
The premise of a woman finally being able to see after her brother convinced her to have surgery in order to restore her sight is such a great idea for a story.
The rediscover of seeing, to be able to put visual perspective to things she previously would hear, feel, touch or taste is such an amazing idea. You feel Nova's pain and you feel her joy! However this book is dark, and gets darker when Kate's back story is added to the mix. So a book and story which could have been an emotional contemporary fiction read, takes a turn to a dark path which marred my enjoyment of the book.
