I found the premise of this book so interesting. It follows Nova, who has been blind from birth, as she undergoes an operation to restore her eyesight (an operation she only agrees to undergo after being persuaded by her brother). However, when Nova wakes up, she discovers a world that she does not understand, and is not sure she likes. And then she meets Kate, and makes an unexpected and unlikely friend who might just change everything.
This was a book that I knew I would want to read as soon as I heard the outline of it, and I'm so pleased that (for me) it didn't disappoint. Incredibly well written, it really makes you think about what it means to see, and about the importance of our own perception of the world around us. Great characters too, and the love story (whilst unexpected) was thoroughly enjoyable. I for one would love to read more by this author in future.
