With these first forty or so pages, we meet two very different women. Firstly we meet Nova, who is blind. Nova is presented with the life-changing opportunity to gain full sight but is rather weary. After discussing it with her brother, talking to an old university professor and an ex she's still as lost as before. On the other side, we have Kate, who we know very little about so far. The first we're shown of her, she's tripping over a crate of wine during an argument with her husband. After this, we see the days to come after. The cover-up, the sofa morning alone in the flat, and the becoming-more-common piercing headaches. What will happen in these two situations? With bubbly characters and scene-setting writing, I can't wait to find out.
