The emerging relationship between Nova and Kate is intriguing and the reader gets to know both of them well. They are unusual women who meet at a critical time in each of their lives and they eventually come to rely upon one another.

This is not just a love story and there are some very tense moments and violence. The dialogue rings true and the action is concisely described, most of it taking place in London.

The most fascinating aspect for me was the way Nova came to terms with the exotic impact of the surgical repair of her eyes. Blind from birth, she must learn to interpret the sighted world where everything is new and confusing to her. Colours, shapes, depth of vision, facial expressions, movement and identifying objects are all challenging.
