Like one of the other reviewers my first impression of the cover was that this would be a novel about the 1940s, I was surprised to see it’s actually set in the 60’s.
The author is really interested in clothes and through the 2 main charachter’s obsession with being a Mod she describes the fashion of the era in minute detail, possibly a little too detailed, but we’ll see how that develops as the story progresses. Linda, with her badges supporting worthy causes seems to want to follow the trend, but equally wears her badges to nod to her belief that there is more to life. Sandra is desperate to get married and pushing for engagement to someone who the reader doesn’t really warm to as marriage material. Hopefully the author will develop Linda’s charachter and spirit so we don’t end up with the impression that the 60s was full of women who wanted to look pretty and get married.
