I was drawn to this despite it not being my usual type of read.
I think the fact it is set in the 1960s really appealed to me, and I really enjoyed the references to the music and the mods and rockers.
This is very much a coming of age story and I did feel invested in the characters.
At times the pace felt a little too leisurely and gentle and could maybe have done with a little editing down, but on the whole it kept my attention.
I haven’t previously read anything else by this author and as I say, it’s not my usual choice of book, but I did enjoy it and found myself thinking about the characters afterwards. I feel there is scope for a second book....
