Of course my initial impression of Secret Runners is 'oh not another poor rich girl story' and Matthew Reilly has enough self awareness to recognize how dull that storyline would be. There is a sense of so much going on in the background that creates suspense and anticipation for readers to get deeper into the story. My main gripe with this book is the absurd amount of different font styles used in these 30 pages alone. I understand its purpose to differentiate between different scenarios/pov, however, visually it is a mess to encounter.
