A sci-fi dysptopian story, the first half of the book begins with mainly an introduction and back story of the characters. The story revolves around the protagonist, Skye, who moves to a new prestigious school with her twin brother Red in New York. They are soon invited to a secret club by the popular kids where they are able to access an underground portal to a destoryed future version of New York. A lot of the book talks about the rich, and privilege, especially in relation to the high school students. I would've perferred for more details relating to the end-of-the-world aspect.
I found that this book started off quite slow, and it wasn't until the second half that it started picking up pace. I enjoyed the time-travel aspect - the ending was very creative in creating a complex plot between the present and future.
Skye and Red were very likeable characters. The character Misty, the leader of the popular clique, was also an interesting character, in portraying the mean girl.
Overall, a good read. I particularly liked the ending, with the different clues as everything began to unravel.
