To me this felt part dystopian and part fantasy…..and while its YA fiction it’s definitely worth a read for us ‘slightly’ older readers.
Set in New York, this has all the drama of high school, bullying and little cliques etc but there is also an alternative New York and is reached via a secret tunnel that only those chosen by the exclusive gang can use. Here they find a New York in ruins….a dystopian world…..is this the possible future?
This is a sort of social documentary, how the spoiled rich kids spend their time and how this has consequences, there’s time travel, and some truly unexpected and dramatic moments too. There are some quite gruesome deaths, raising the tension. Very clever and thought provoking...
