Enjoyable but not what I expected
This novel is a combination of many themes and genres (science fiction, romance etc.). However, they did mix very well to form a well thought out novel. We get to see different high school cliques (which are completely true in real life). The main character is relatable and likeable and her dry sense of humour is very enjoyable. The relationships between various characters are exposed quickly, but they develop over time to change. The characters are complex but not too much.
The main character and her brother move to a new school. Three relatively new girls have gone missing. I definitely expected the novel to centre around that. But it doesn’t and I’m not going to spoil anything.
The writing style is descriptive and flows beautifully. The author gives necessary background information but still keeps the novel moving forward, which is quite impressive.
