In his West and Scarecrow series for adults he has honed a high-concept, high action, punchy style that give his books real pace and create a compulsion to keep reading.
The Secret Runners Of New York would appear to be another winning concept. Our narrator is Skye, a privileged girl who is about to become the new girl at school. So far nothing that isn't the basis of any number of YA novels. Ah, but of course this is no ordinary school, this is 'The school where the new girls go missing'. Three new girls have gone missing to be precise. Is Skye next and if so what fate awaits her?
Oh yeah and there is an astronomical apocalypse on the way just to add to the tension...
I can't wait to read the whole book.
