To say that this book was not what I expected is the understatement of the century.

When I started reading this book, I thought it was going to be easy going teenage drama but I was strongly mistaken.

This plot is intricately woven to create a dynamic, enticing and fascinating narrative with an interesting world setting.

The best part about how this book is written is the way that class, discrimination, tragedy, abuse, family and friendships are threads of plot that are developed alongside the abstract ideas of this other reality.
These characteristics are never ignored or pushed aside and if anything I'd say they have a stronger foot hold than the alternate reality part of the novel but I suppose that's open to debate.
