This is a book about people, the ordinary disparate people that inhabit any street in any town, city or village in the land. Only they know what happens when that front door is firmly closed but we are being given a glimpse of who the residents of this charming Dublin square are. Already introduced to a range of people from the young Melissa, through her mum Susan, the elderly Jane and the not-yet resident (who's name has just escaped me). There is a good range of lifestyle, experience and past events to make for an absorbing read.

On the whole this is my kind of book. What does bemuse me is that the best of these books are all set in Southern Ireland, what do they pout in the water there that makes people such good storytellers about seemingly mundane daily life?
