"The Secrets of the Krays" is an interesting book, because it's told by a man who was friends with the Kray Twins who led an ultra-famous gangland in West End, England. I was interested to learn more about the Twins, the writer, and the history.

This book was told in a first-person present tense, which was startling to me. Reading about people's history seems to be a third person or a first person past tense. It was a bit hard to think, "Oh, right. That character is saying this", because the actual events took place decades ago. The dialogue was certainly offputting.

The book was interesting, to have the perspective of someone involved with the crimes, however, I think the way it was told was its downfall.

I received a complimentary copy for reviewing purposes.
