The Sharp Edge of Silence by Rosenblum is a teenage drama that takes on the emotionally wrenching experience of a young girl in school, who has been sexually assaulted, and how the normalised indulgence of misogyny in teenagers makes it harder to break the silence of such secrets. As Quinn tries to murder the boy responsible for her assault, Charlotte becomes anxious about her relationship with the hottest senior in school, and Max, a scholarship kid who has a chance to fit in with a the popular crew, they all want something; how far are they willing to go?

This book provides a delicate depiction of a person who is assaulted and highlights the intense experience not by completely emphasising the act itself but by demonstrating its impact by Quinn's psychologically trauma and deteriorating well being. I thought the book also provoked discussions about the language used that normalises sexually degrading young girls and emphasised how the pressure of masculinity can make silence so sharp, it can ruins lives forever. I would recommend this book for teenagers because it starts the conversation about consent, sexual relationships and the mindfulness of what we say and how we treat others.
