This novel addresses the question of advancing in society by teaching the youths of today about being less destructive towards one another and about the gender equality. Exploring the old age issues of peer group pressure, as even when max knows he is doing wrong when he gets enlisted in the boys secret society, he still conforms to the peer group pressure.

The sad truth of an existing rape culture that has been proven to exist and still continues today has been highlighted in the hit tv show ‘thirteen reasons why’ and this novel also explores a similar base line.

The added messages in this book, is that Q, the survivor of a sexual assault, has the realisation that despite all the evidence, she is most likely not going to receive the justice she deserves and instead she decides to extradite her own justice. Her decision to murder her attacker, Pearce, leads her down a darker route and in fact does her more harm, by further isolating her and making her lose her sense of self even more. Fortunately, before she completes her mission, another student finds her with a gun, stalking Pearce and together, they assemble the help of others students to enlighten the school faculty and bring lycroft academy into a new era, re-educating students to bring about positive change with the ideology to end male violence, self harm and advancing gender equality.

The novel carefully explores counselling techniques that can help survivors of assault recover from the trauma and enables them to regain their confidence

Overall, this novel has a lot to offer
