I have just read The Sharp Edge of Silence by Cameron Kelly Rosenblum.
The book centres around the elite Lycroft Phelps High School in New Hampshire and the lives of some of the young people who attend.
The story largely focuses on Quinn, who we learn early on has a dark. devastating secret, and her friendship group and Max, an outsider, until he is picked as the cox for the rowing team and his fellow rowers. The characters were believable and I felt for all of the girls and Max too, struggling between being part of a crew and being popular with his morals and honesty.
Whilst this book is targeted as a young persons book, myself middle aged, found it engaging, compelling, shocking. The writing was excellent, the story and message strong. Toxic masculinity needs to be discussed and addressed, and, in my opinion this book does so at just the right level.
