When I first started reading The Sharp Edge of Silence I wasn't sure what I was going to make of the book. I initially struggled to keep track of which character was which. However I quickly got sucked into the story and found it an enjoyable yet hard hitting story.

Quinn was sexually assaulted at the end of the previous school year. She didn't tell anyone at the school what happened to her and is struggling with the after effects of the assault while her attacker appears to be thriving like normal. What follows is a gritty, hard to read at times book which despite to heavy topics is an enjoyable read.

One aspect of the book I stuggled with was the age of the characters. Maybe it is normal in a high end boarding school but I struggled to grasp the age of the characters compared to what they were experiencing (especially as the legal drinking age in America where the book is set is 21 and some of these kids are 14/15). But maybe that is real life and this stuff is actually happening. That aspect of the storyline reminded me of Gossip Girl.
