Honest, raw and emotional – this was an incredible read. It explores themes of toxic masculinity within a boarding school, and taking accountability for this behaviour. Whilst it is a heavy and intense read, there are plenty of moments of hope and I loved watching the girls take back their power. The mixed media helps to immerse the reader and the narrative is fast-paced, switching between different POVs. Quinn is haunted by her need for revenge, spiralling into her dark emotions following a sexual assault. It’s heart-breaking to know that the events are inspired by the author’s own experiences, but this adds to the story, as Quinn is one of the most incredibly written characters I have had the pleasure of reading. Her emotions feel so real and I desperately hoped that she would begin to heal and get the justice that she deserved. Overall, this is a wonderful and heart-wrenching story about the horrors of a toxic culture and the power of friendship.
