I love the cover of this book and really wanted to enjoy the books itself but I found the topic and characters difficult to fully relate to. The writing style was okay but it didn’t allow for the characters to be fully developed or for them to be personable to the reader. I think because I grew up in a very different environment the book was really difficult to engage with and the characters were difficult to understand in terms of their motivations and the reasons why they behaved the way that they did. But I can see this being an interesting book for the right audience perhaps as a discussion piece within a school environment so the theme can be fully explored and used to create informative pieces of critical writing. I am sure that the book and writing style would be enjoyable for younger readers so I wouldn’t judge the book based on my review alone, I was just the wrong audience.
