Powerful and Inspiring
Thank you to Readers First for my pre-release copy of this brand new novel, due to be released April 11th.
This book dealt with the aftermath of sexual assault and toxic masculinity. I think that this books delivers an extremely powerful message which is beneficial to both younger readers and adult readers alike.
The style of writing allowed for an easy read - none of the language in the book was overly complicated or disturbingly graphic. Whilst the book deals with sensitive topics, I would not say that it is too inappropriate for teenage readers.
The plot was extremely interesting, especially since it was narrated from the point of view of three different characters - Quinn, Charlotte, and Max. By structuring the plot in this way, I was able to form a deeper understanding of the characteristics of each person in this story.
This book delivers comprehension of the emotional after-effects of sexual assault, and I empathised with Quinn throughout. She begins the book feeling personally responsible for the assault she was subjected to, and it was heart-warming to watch her growth of strength throughout the novel where she becomes determined to hold her assailant accountable.
