The Sharp Edge of Silence is set in a posh boarding school in America where the pupils who finish that stage of their education are promised a great future. The school is great for learning academic subjects and sport, but what it is not good at teaching is respect for each other. This is particularly noticeable in the way that the boys in the school behave toward their fellow female pupils. A young girl named Quinn, a pupil at the school learned this the hard way when she went on a date with one of the alpha male boys and she ended up being assaulted. Quinn knew that there was no point in trying to get the boy in trouble , so she decided to take things into her own hands. Quinn wants revenge , and the way she plays it is a big part of this story.
Along with Quinn`s revenge , another big feature of the story is the boat race. All the alpha boys are in the rowing team but they need a new new cox. This is where Max, the scholarship pupil comes into the plot. Max has not been popular in the school up till now because he does not come from a posh family like the other pupils. But now he is in the rowing team, he becomes really popular.
