A stark cover and a stark story - this young adult book is definitely for more mature teenagers and those on the cusp of adulthood and all its problems, rather than those entering their teens and looking for a more advanced read. The author uses an interesting three-character POV structure to tell the story, as all three students recall their experiences. From separate lives, the characters experiences become integrated until they are recalling the same experiences. There is a trigger warning on the back about sexual violence contained within the book, and it is also about toxic masculinity and similar issues people still deal with on a daily basis. The author has used shock tactics at times to get the main points across, but it is also gripping and engaging novel with an interesting plot structure and well developed characters.
