This is a book for fans of the tv series - Thirteen Reasons Why or books such One of Us Lying . Based around four main characters all at an elite school, where students apply and are invited, and are expected to be the best and be involved in school life.

From the start, it is clear there has been a crime committed by a student against a female student * trigger warning for depiction of sexual violence * and the perpetrator is Colin Pearce , who has a death warrant on his head from one of the characters. Indeed we meet Quinn in the act of stealing a gun in the first chapter proclaiming ‘ Colin Pearce must die’. This is a story which looks at how institutions and groups of people try to cover up crimes and how the victims fight back.

There are two other characters with secrets which are also played out in the book.

As someone who is not a YA, there were alot of references to modern culture which I found unnecessarily to the story but importantly, the story lines were handled sensitively and carefully.

An interesting read for older teens
