Although I'm not a reader of fantasy, I thought the opening chapter was exciting and imaginative. Unfortunately my interest waned in the second chapter which I found quite boring. It's clear the book is aimed at a particular demographic who want to read a fantasy adventure with a young protagonist. That isn't me I'm afraid.
