Not too familiar with this author, her previous books or Irish folklore in general, but the concept of the stone - as described in the blurb - sounds similar to the ring in the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, but (for want of a better way of putting it) in a real world setting of Ireland rather than imagined ones like Mordor.
