The story is set in Ireland, where young teenager Rose is given a magic stone by an ice Giant made from whirling hailstones. The book cover is good, and right from the opening words you are propelled into a maelstrom of huge wild weather. The super powerful and evil Cethlenn is on the war-path, including destroying the Ice Giants along the way. Rosie in in Grammar School, suffering from the bully and the everyday problems. Then the ice cloud comes along and her world changes. The descriptive passages are really great. Even the bottom of the pages are patterned with ice spikes which grow as you read on!
