It’s not straight forward to review a book meant for a different audience so all I can do is read it and say how much I enjoyed it.
Sinead O’Hart has remodelled Irish folklore into a modern fairytale which I enjoyed. The prose is good, the plot gallops along which keeps you reading and the characters are appealing.
It contains all the elements of a good fairy tale … witches, giants, child heroes, shape shifting animals and a good amount of magic both good and evil.
It’s the story of an ancient witch trying to restore her evil god husband after he had been defeated in the mists of the distant past. Fate chose the heroine and the school bully to fight for the future of the world. She has to raise mythical heroes to help her in this gigantic battle against evil.
As you can see I enjoyed reading the book so therefore I can only predict that other people will too.
