I'm going to be biased in that I've always been fascinated by Irish mythology so always drawn to fantasy based on its premise. Opens with the sort of dramatic scene that pulls you in right away, and strikes me so far as well-written, fast-paced with lots of dialogue moving things along, and quite contemporary in its writing style (rather than what can be the case with YA fantasy with a bit more formal language to lend gravitas to goings on). Reminds me a bit of Catherine Doyle's Storm Keeper's Island so far, which I loved, but I see plenty of opportunity for it to be a very different book too.

I would just say that the illustrations on the excerpt that I've seen so far don't quite do justice to the story itself, they might have been better left out or at least different in terms of simplicity. The cover art, however, is beautiful, and appropriate to the story at hand so far.
