Before passing this book to my grandchildren I decided to read it myself and I can only say how I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Right from the beginning, it drew me in and I found it to be a real page turner.
The main characters were so believable and I loved how they all interacted with each other during the storyline.
It has a combination of Irish mythology with old magic that catapults you into the 21st century and the importance of stories that are passed down through generations.
Rose Darkes' journey through school is so well written with Emer, a girl who was always bullying Rose along with their different family lifestyles.
Nellie and Gracie are two shop keepers who Rose met when going to school a different route to avoid Emer and who are a major part of the plot.
I was happy to pass this book to my grandchildren as I feel, not only would they enjoy it, but it would stretch their imagination.
