This is a book and wizards, magic and folklore, which is ever popular with all ages! There is even some teasing in the book about liking and reading this genre! However, I am not commending bullying and there is an aspect of this for the protagonist Rose.
The story is set in Ireland Set in Ireland and it is a really sweet story, which includes an elderly couple Gracie and Nellie who bring comfort with all of their offerings of home-baked goods and sweets.
I liked how we were transported in time from present time and to the mythical space where there are the problems of good and evil! It was a page turning when things were going wrong and I liked the environmental aspects incorporated into it.
If you enjoy fantasy this is a good read but I did find it hard to get into so the beginning didn’t grab my attention that much. However, the ending was so good!
