A book about the afterglow of a female who has gone missing. The father Lelle is a depressive sleep deprived dirty character, spends his nights on the road exploring the immense possibilities of his daughters disappearance. He basically looks into the abyss and the abyss looks back at him and makes him smoke another cigarette. What is it about these types having to smoke to show that they are doomed? why can’t they eat Greggs vegan sausage rolls instead, something more original, for this I took away a star (fickle I know).

That’s right, this is otherwise an excellent read, like the way the first look didn’t finish the chapter, paragraph or even sentence when it ended. I don’t want to throw the book at the wall for the writers insolence, no, I want to finish reading this now. The writer knows how to evoke a sense of urgency in the reader. Following this filthy blood trail to its inevitable conclusion is the stuff of dreams.

Oh and there’s another character, young female who is trapped in a house with her Mam and a hillbilly chap with a weird eye, that’s why other readers have emphasised intrigue, it’s not clear how this man with lost daughter will link up with the soon to be lost daughter.

Good first effort, written like a pro.
