I am biased - I love Sweden, having lived there in my 20s - and I can picture the landscapes Stina describes perfectly. I've experienced deep hard winter melting into spring, so her descriptions really struck a chord with me. I'm not a fan of Scand-noir, or thrillers generally, but I can tell when a writer is an expert at her craft. And Stina surely is: two parallel plotlines are drawn out that will undoubtedly begin to knot together. Dialogue is convincing too. Impressive debut.
