Firstly, this book is as much about enjoying the cleverly thought out setting description as it is the story itself. Stina Jackson has used ‘pathetic fallacy’ so that the scenery and the weather mimic the feelings of the characters throughout the book. This gives the book an eerie feeling all the way through. It was hard to put down as once I started reading I was eager to find out what would happen next. Even though the action didn’t really happen until part two, I enjoyed learning about the characters and wondering how their stories might relate to one another.

It is a heartbreaking tale of a man desperate to find his daughter, who has been missing for three years. The search has taken its toll on Lelle and has consequently led to the breakdown of his marriage. The other story which runs alongside this is that of Meja, a young girl, who has moved to the area with her troubled mother.

If you love mystery or thriller genres, I would definitely recommend this book.
