The first thing to say about The Silver Road is that there are no chapters, which does make it unputdownable!

It alternates between the point of view of the two main characters Lelle and Meja.

Lelle's 17 year old daughter went missing three years previously and he is tragically living a lonely existence, only living in hope of answers. He drives along The Silver Road painstakingly searching for his missing daughter.

Meja, is a neglected 17 year old who moves to the small town with her alcoholic dysfunctional mother who moves in with the local lifelong porn-obsessed bachelor.

Another girl goes missing from the small town and Lelle and Meja's lives eventually intertwine in dangerous circumstances.

This story is beautifully written, the language and description is vivid. The setting is beautifully described, so you can really get a good picture in your head. This is quite a feat considering it was translated into English from Swedish.

It is not just the setting that is wonderfully descriptive. The emotions of the characters are raw and at times, painful, and Lelle's character really evoked my sympathy. Meja, is surprisingly likeable for a teenager and I think this is a credit to the author.

I loved this book and I am already a huge fan of Scandinavian Thrillers/Mysteries. I would definitely like to read more from this author. I could not put it down and consumed it really quickly! This book did keep me guessing until well over half way and even when certain things were revealed there was still a few twists to come.

It is a solid 4.5 starts from me, the only reason it is not a 5 is because I think the ending was perhaps a little too obvious and too neatly wrapped up. I did love this book, gorgeous cover too!
