This was a very satisfying and rather a compulsive read.
I found the descriptions of the characters' emotions and the scene setting to be very vivid, so much so, that you feel you have driven every inch of the Silver Road along with the main character Lelle. Lelle is quite a complex character to work out but he does take the reader along with him and you really want things to work out well for him.
It's rather a slow burn of a book, which possibly loses some of it's momentum about half way through, but then is pulled back on track with part 2.
It was cleverly plotted and does keep the reader guessing for quite a while, in fact, everyone seems guilty at first!
It has a good, if rather harrowing, conclusion with all questions being resolved at the end.
