This stunning, totally captivating book is set in northern Sweden amongst the deep dark pine forest and the remote communities that live there. Three years ago Lina disappeared from a bus stop, here father, Lelle, has spent those long three years searching for her. During the days of the midnight sun he spends his nights travelling along the Silver road with the intention of covering every part of it in the search for what happened to his daughter.

Running parallel to Lelle's story is the story of 17 year old Meja, who arrives in town with her mother. Meja who has spent her life moving from home to home now finds herself in the home of a strange man whom her mother has met on the internet. Her mother prone to drinking and mental health problems, intends to stay living in this home amongst the dense forest. As Meja sets about exploring her new surroundings she meets some of the locals and soon her's and Lina's stories slowly start to entwine.

For me this book was sort of like an itch you can't stop scratching! Once I had started reading, I found myself going back to it with every spare moment I had. I was totally captivated by it's atmospheric and haunting story and finished it in just over 24 hours. This is an amazing debut, by a very talented author.
