I got really enthralled in this book and enjoyed reading it. A gripping storyline throughout and the characters weave together beautifully. (It's worth noting that it's very well translated by Susan Beard too.) I felt a lot of empathy for the characters, and the messages relating to family are broad and sensitively handled. It's hauntingly emotive in places and I just wish there could have been a happier ending! The sense of place is strong and the descriptions of the forest are stunning. I was surprised to find out that this was author Stina Jackson's debut novel as it's confidently written and pretty powerful. Overall a well put together book that I absolutely sped through as I struggled to put it down!
